Extremely excited at getting my first cover feature for an international magazine. My shot of Rascal Flatts at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in July 2013 was chosen as the cover for the May/June edition of Maverick Magazine.
Speaking with Maverick’s editor Laura after the C2C festival, they were going with Rascal Flatts on the cover of the next edition. Getting a band on a cover is always a tricky proposition due to positioning and layout design, so I had to find an image that really complemented the proposed layout and that also incorporated all three members of Rascal Flatts. Fortunately I had a sharp shot which worked really well and it was approved the band and the rest is history.
But it didn’t end there. This issue featured more photographs that I had taken than any previous issue, for which I was so pleased about. There were over 10 pages of shots, ranging from the C2C Country 2 Country Festival, the Taylor Swift concert, Eric Church and two double page spreads of Rascal Flatts. Needless to say this edition is a cherished issue!
Already in talks for some more content over the coming months with some big events on the cards including the CMA Music Festival next month and Dolly Parton, and a consideration for back to back cover features on the table – more coming soon!
